Facing the threat of suspension, high school senior Darby agrees to switch into a new class: theater. There, she is confronted with the assignment of performing a monologue as a woman in a retirement home, Flora. These new experiences force Darby to confront a traumatic event in her past, and then use her monologue as a bridge to rebuild a relationship with her father.
