Pride: Kumu Hina (2014, NR)

June 12, 2019 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm CDT

A transgender Native Hawaiian teacher inspires a young girl to fulfill her destiny of leading the school’s male hula troupe, even as she struggles to find love and a committed relationship in her own life. Written and directed by Dean Hamer and Joe Wilson.

Central Cinema Nights is a movie screening in the Central Library’s Durwood Film Vault taking place Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. Join us as we watch and discuss documentaries and feature films in a socially conscious setting, chosen to fit a monthly theme. This month’s theme: Pride.  This June we are celebrating Pride Month by showcasing a selection of documentary films that voice distinct perspectives in the LGBTQ+ community.

Everyone is welcome! Movie screenings at the Central Library are always FREE and open to the public.
