First Roles, Famous Actors: Mystic Pizza

May 8 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm CDT

“Mystic Pizza” charts the lives and loves of three unforgettable waitresses in a little town called Mystic. For sexy Daisy Araujo (Julia Roberts), her sensible sister Kat (Annabeth Gish) and their wisecracking friend Jojo (Lili Taylor), the summer after high school is a summer they’ll never forget. Slinging pizza at a local restaurant, the three girls share their hopes, dreams and plans for escaping their small town. In between it all we get to see a young Matt Damon take his first steps towards stardom amid a brilliant ensemble cast.

(1988, R)

Central Cinema Nights is a movie screening in the Central Library’s Durwood Film Vault taking place Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. Join us as we watch and discuss documentaries and feature films in a socially conscious setting, chosen to fit a monthly theme. This month’s theme: First Roles, Famous Actors.

This May we are showcasing films in our collection that were the first roles for famous actors. From funny, to gritty, and on to absurd; these films were the first steps for these actors on their roads to fame.

Everyone is welcome! Movie screenings at the Central Library are always FREE and open to the public.
