Citizen Kane

Number 1 on the American Film Institute 1998  list of best American films, Orson Welles’ masterpiece won Best Original Screenplay in 1941.  Starring Welles as a self-made publishing tycoon whose life is a series of broken relationships and tarnished by greed and power.  Reportedly based on the life of William Randolph Hearst, it sparked a clash between him and RKO Studios.
