McLendon not only changed the way basketball was played but who could play it as well. Studying under James Naismith, John McLendon would become the most innovative coach in the history of basketball and in doing so would eventually integrate the college game. Following three consecutive national championships, his career would lead him to become the first professional black Coach. Quietly he became one of the most successful coaches of our time, changing the way the game would be played forever leaving us with his legacy; the Fast Break.
