In 1983 John Zielinski was a well-known author and photographer. His work had appeared in Life magazine, The New York Times, The Chicago Tribune and countless other publications. But in a devastating 1984 contract dispute, he lost $50,000 and his professional credibility. Today Zielinski is the most blacklisted author in the history of Iowa. For 25 years he has dedicated his life to exposing human traffickers, pedophiles, drug dealers and Satanists. The film traces the rise and fall of a true American original who has sacrificed everything in his quest for justice.

Au Pair, Kansas is the winner of the 2011 AMC Theatres® independent Best Heartland Narrative Feature

Au Pair, Kansas is the story of a recently widowed woman who hires a Norwegian soccer player to come to a small town in Kansas to be a male au pair and help her raise her two sons. Part drama, part comedy, with shades of European magical realism, it deals with the recent personal loss of all four main characters and how a soccer ball can change sadness into laughter and create a big and sometimes happy family.

Au Pair, Kansas was written specifically for and stars Håvard Lilleheie, a top young Norwegian film and TV star. O’Neal met Håvard at Cinequest, the San Jose Film festival, where Håvard starred in the opening night feature film, United. United became the top grossing home-produced film in Norway in 2003. Amazed at Håvard’s incredible screen presence, O’Neal sought to create an English-speaking part for this phenomenally funny and charismatic actor. The result was to make him a male au pair from Norway, and to bring him to a small town, Lindsborg, a Swedish community in the plains of Kansas!

Thus begat Au Pair, Kansas. Add to the mix the grieving mom, Helen, the ghost of her dead husband, her two yodeling sons, a nudist piano teacher, a Latino drag queen, a horny football coach, his butch ex-wife sheriff, a high school hotty, an eighty year-old Swedish gnome, and you’ve got a soccer team. Toss in a herd of buffalo to spice up the story.

Au Pair, Kansas was shot in and around Lindsborg, Kansas, using existing locations with the incredible Red One digital camera. It’s a story of a dysfunctional families, death, maturing, and coming together for a common goal as well as a hilarious fish out of water story set in small town America. Along with the young Scandinavian star, the lead actress is the amazing Traci Lords!

Homecoming is the winner of the 2011 U.S./Int’l Feature – Best Narative

Inspired in part by a true story, this chronicles the story of an Army medic’s visit back home after two years overseas. Her 18-day leave journeys between pathos and humor as she attempts to reconnect with her lonely single mother and her directionless, yet noble friends. While her mother plans to celebrate all the missed holidays, her friends try to convince her to come home for good. As she nears her final 24 hours, she finds an unexpected romance – something she has avoided since her teenage years. Emerging from her quiet, disciplined reserve, she confronts the sacrifices she has made in serving overseas.
